BGHS RENAISSANCE

Roseann Marschke Gary, Class of 58, represented the Alumni Association at this year’s Renaissance VIP Breakfast.

In case you are wondering, The RENAISSANCE Foundation is a national clearinghouse of over 2000 schools that have developed programs for incentives in education.

Students, staff, parents, and business representatives comprise the RENAISSANCE committee that will develop incentives for academic achievement, outstanding attendance, exceptional citizenship, and students who demonstrate marked improvement in these areas.

The mission of BGHS RENAISSANCE is to promote, achieve, and reward excellence by BGHS students. All students at our school are part of this program.  Students can earn recognition and rewards in four main areas:

1.    Academic excellence
2.   Outstanding attendance
3.   Exceptional citizenship
4.   Achievement

All students, parents, staff, and community members are eligible to participate in RENAISSANCE at BGHS.

Roseann reported: There were 50 students honored at this year’s breakfast.  This year’s freshman class is testing out to be the best class in 6 years.  Up 10% over last year’s class.
Graduation rates will be up over 2007/2008.
Two BGHS science teachers were recognized for their outstanding teaching techniques.  Mrs. Brown, by Butler, and Mr. Banks, by DePaul.  Two BGHS students, now attending those respective Universities recommended the teachers for this award.  Each received $2000 in grant money.

Mr. Clevenger thanked the parents for voting for the referendum.  It saved the school from cutting bus drivers, and some of the technology services.

The girls golf team qualified for the sectionals….first time.

BGHS Band placed 5th in the State Contest….  This is the first year the band has place since 1984…….

Congratulations to all………….
